Physical Activity Practitioner

About the Role

As a Physical Activity Practitioner, you will deliver a range of wellbeing and physical activity sessions across Ravenswood Village, supporting people on both a one-to-one and group basis

Working closely with the Wellbeing Manager and wider Health & Wellbeing team, you will help create engaging and inclusive programmes that encourage participation, independence and enjoyment.

The role includes supporting hydrotherapy sessions, physical activity programmes and wider wellbeing initiatives tailored to the needs of the people we support.

You will:

  • Deliver engaging wellbeing and physical activity sessions
  • Support people with disabilities to increase participation and confidence
  • Facilitate hydrotherapy sessions safely and effectively
  • Promote health, wellbeing and independence through physical activity
  • Create positive and inclusive experiences for the people we support

This is a practical and people-focused role where every day is different and every interaction matters.

Your Day to Day

You will:

  • Lead physical activity and wellbeing sessions for individuals and groups
  • Support people with learning and physical disabilities to engage in activities
  • Deliver hydrotherapy sessions and maintain safe pool operation
  • Monitor progress and contribute to individual achievement reporting
  • Carry out risk assessments and health and safety checks
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues and external professionals
  • Help create a safe, positive and inclusive environment
  • Support wider Health & Wellbeing activities where needed

Qualifications, Experience & Training
Essential

  • Experience supporting adults with learning or physical disabilities
  • Competent swimmer
  • Knowledge of sports and physical activity programmes
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Good literacy, numeracy and ICT skills
  • Positive and inclusive approach to supporting people with disabilities

Desirable

  • First Aid qualification
  • Level 2 Coaching qualification
  • Lifeguard or swimming rescue qualification
  • Experience delivering hydrotherapy
  • Knowledge of pool health and safety procedures

You will also need flexibility to work evenings and weekends as part of the role.
